Lorette here -
I am the rocketeer, along with Steve Bellovin. You should know that we live in a suburban setting, very close to the Great Swamp with lots of deer, turkey vultures, cats and guinea pigs, and a swimming pool. We have more computers than brains.
Unless you are familiar with checking firearms at airports bring your rockets, but don't bring the engines and igniters. If you bring engines and igniters they are considered firearms. You have to go at least an hour early to the airport and call security to go through the proper exams and forms to bring them. Now why would any of you do that?
So, no igniters or engines on airplanes. Send me e-mail with your requests. I will have them and more here, waiting for you.
WRT shipping your rockets, wrap them in styrofoam or bubble wrap, and then double box to be sure that they arrive as intact units and not toothpicks.
Rockets: The definitive book on model Rocketry is: The Handbook of Model Rocketry by G. Harry Stine. A good starting point on the Net is Rocketry Online.
(Estes +rocket) for non High Performance rocketry is another good start. I can't set up a High Performance launch for this year. You have to have FAA and ATF licenses and clearance that I am just starting to earn. And more importantly, a place from which to do them. Around here, that's either near the NY boarder or Cape May.
I can't wait to see what goodies you bring.
